Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion led the Inception Report Presentation this week to discuss the detailed research and planning for an improved flood control and drainage system in the municipality. The initiative is part of the local government’s continuing efforts to make Mariveles safer and more disaster-resilient, especially during the rainy season and extreme weather events.
The study will cover all 18 barangays of Mariveles and aims to develop a master plan with engineering-based solutions such as flood barriers, upgraded drainage networks, and natural water retention systems. It follows previous flood mitigation projects like the retaining wall in Barangay Balon Anito, which was funded through the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund.
Mayor Concepcion emphasized that the project will use a data-driven approach and will involve collaboration with community leaders and experts. The resulting recommendations are expected to provide long-term strategies and infrastructure upgrades that will help protect lives and property from future calamities.
